Please join us for an Author Talk with local resident Dearta Logu Fusaro as she debuts her travel memoir The Illyrian Way, published in London in 2025. The memoir chronicles this Albanian American hiker's 435-mile expedition across seven Balkan countries.

As the author treks peak to peak, through mesmerizing landscapes and vibrant communities, she embarks on a deep personal quest to define identity, exploring the nuances of belonging and unraveling the complex tapestry of cultural heritage. Through moments of thoughtful introspection, the memoir ponders the true essence of reconciliation among neighboring nations in the aftermath of conflict, illustrating how heartfelt dialogue, shared experiences, and commonalities can heal divisions that once seemed insurmountable. Lush, evocative storytelling paired with insightful reflection offers readers a fresh lens on the histories and terrains that have shaped the Balkans, inviting them to witness both the beauty and resilience of the region.

Dearta Logu Fusaro describes herself as a naturalist, community builder, international traveler, business professional, and author. Life is defined for her by the intersections of global perspective and local roots. A lifelong writer who penned her first poem in the first grade, Dearta has been an active voice in Wilton Library’s Poets Society for nearly a decade. She is also a seasoned business leader and community advocate who blends analytical precision with a deep-seated passion for local engagement. Currently serving as the Head of the Project Management Office at ASML in Wilton, Dearta holds degrees in Business and Education. She has also had significant tenures at Save the Children and New York University. Dearta’s love for the land is evident in her personal milestones—she has walked every public preserved area in Wilton and its surrounding towns—and in her work with the Cannon Grange, where she built the "Grange Exchange" to foster a local culture of sharing books, plants, and seeds.

Dearta will sell copies of The Illyrian Way after her presentation.
