Please join us for a fascinating look at the current state of artificial intelligence and where it's going with David Ferrucci, the AI scientist who led IBM's Watson to victory over its human opponents on Jeopardy in 2011! Artificial Intelligence is rapidly reshaping everything from the global economy to the limits of personal achievement, accelerating progress in art, science, and education. While concerns regarding privacy and bias are real, this session pivots toward the immense hope AI offers for individual empowerment. We will demystify how these tools actually function, learn to navigate the trap of over- or under-estimating their power, and demonstrate live how to strategically use AI to expand your own capabilities.
David Ferrucci is an American computer scientist and IBM Fellow best known for leading the IBM team that developed Watson, the AI system that famously won Jeopardy! in 2011—a milestone in natural language understanding. He later applied AI to organizational decision-making at Bridgewater Associates and founded Elemental Cognition, focused on combining large language models with symbolic reasoning to deliver reliable, explainable enterprise AI. He currently serves as Chief AI & Technology Officer at Unqork and Managing Director of the Institute for Advanced Enterprise AI at the Center for Global Enterprise, with a career centered on advancing trustworthy AI for complex decision-making.
