Event Details

Please join WSHU reporter Davis Dunavin in the Brubeck Room for exciting tales about Pirate History in the Northeast. Famous pirates like Captain Kidd and Black Sam Bellamy sailed through the waters around New York and New England, having unusual adventures and meeting surprising (and occasionally grisly) fates.  Davis Dunavin traveled in their footsteps last year, exploring pirate history for the podcast Off the Path. He’ll share stories of sunken treasure, dramatic battles and more!

Davis Dunavin loves telling stories, whether on the radio or around the campfire. An Edward R. Murrow Award-winning and Peabody Award-nominated journalist, he is the host of WSHU's Off the Path and created and hosted the 2022 series Still Newtown. He also teaches classes in media studies at Sacred Heart University. He started in Missouri and ended up in Connecticut, which, he'd like to point out, is the same geographic trajectory taken by Mark Twain.
