Please join us here at Wilton Library to hear from Corinne Flax of the Bruce Museum, who will talk about the museum's hosting of "Andy Warhol: small is beautiful" 4/6/24-10/13/24, in the Grossman Family and & Barbara and Edward Netter Foundation Galleries. This engaging exhibition at the Bruce Museum explores the many elements of this enigmatic artist's prolific career. Known for his soup cans and celebrity portraits, Andy Warhol (American 1928-1987) was a leading figure in the Pop Art movement and has left a lasting legacy of creativity and intrigue. Who was the man under the wig, and what motivated him? In this engaging talk, Bruce Museum Educator Corinne Flax will explore the themes of celebrity, sexuality, death and beauty in Warhol's work and their connection to his life. From his humble beginnings in Pittsburgh to becoming an icon of the celebrity scene, Andy Warhol was undeniably Andy throughout his career. By exploring the man and his work together participants will gain a deeper understanding of Warhol's work and its place in American art history.
Corinne Flax is a museum educator, arts enthusiast, and community educator. She studied Art History at Drew University, receiving her B.A. in 2003 and her M.A. from Bank Street in Museum Education in 2008. Corinne joined the Bruce Museum in 2015 as Manager of School and Community Partnership, where she develops curriculum and community partnerships while focusing on creating intersections between art and science.
