Please join us for a community conversation to learn more about the impact of problem gambling and how to help a loved one, family member, friend, or client. Dena Miccinello from The Hub at Catalyst CT, one of five state-designated Regional Behavioral Health Action Organizations, will talk about the definition of gambling, types of gambling in CT, the impact of gambling, myths and facts and warning signs and risk factors. You will be provided with a variety of local, regional, and state-wide resources for problem gambling prevention, treatment, and recovery.
Dena Miccinello grew up in Connecticut, has a degree in Public Health from Southern Connecticut State University and has nearly 8 years of experience in the prevention field. She served in the AmeriCorps program, Prevention Corps with Trumbull’s Prevention Partnership, focusing on the opioid epidemic, and spent time working in lead poisoning prevention for The Naugatuck Valley Health District. She was awarded the RYASAP (Regional Youth Adult Social Action Partnership) Above & Beyond Award in 2018, is a board member of the Connecticut Public Health Association's Health Education Committee and a board member for CAPP, The Connecticut Association Of Prevention Professionals. Most recently, Dena was the Prevention Coordinator at The Durham Middlefield Local Wellness Coalition for 4 years, focusing on substance use prevention. Dena currently is a Program Manager at The Hub at Catalyst CT focusing on Problem Gambling and Gaming education. Prevention is the way she helps community members live a safe and healthy life.
