Please join us in the Rimer Room for Jacqueline Jackson's talk, Calm Under Pressure: Simple Tools to Support Your Nervous System--A practical wellness program for everyday stress and resilience. Inspired by her book Holistic Trauma Healing: Strategies to Integrate the Body, Mind & Spirit, Jackie Jackson offers a welcoming wellness program designed to help participants better understand stress and support their nervous systems through simple, embodied practices.  Whether you are a parent trying to respond calmly instead of reacting, a professional managing deadlines and decision fatigue, a student under pressure, or someone juggling the demands of everyday life, nervous system regulation plays a key role in how effectively we think, communicate, and relate to others.

The session includes brief, accessible education on how stress affects the nervous system, followed by gentle, trauma-informed experiential practices such as nervous system grounding and coherent breathing, a guided “safe place” visualization, and an embodied self-compassion and affirmation practice.  All practices are offered seated or standing, with no yoga mats or prior experience required, and the program concludes with time for reflection and Q&A, leaving participants with practical tools they can use in real-life moments—before a difficult conversation, during a stressful day, or when winding down at night.

Jacqueline Jackson is an author, trauma-informed yoga therapeutics and somatic healing educator with over 25 years of experience teaching yoga and mind-body practices. She is the author of Holistic Trauma Healing: Strategies to Integrate the Body, Mind & Spirit, which offers accessible, evidence-informed tools for resilience, regulation, and well-being.

Jackie is an E-RYT 500 yoga teacher, yoga teacher trainer, and continuing education provider, and a professional member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She is also certified in Somatic EMDR-informed coaching, integrating nervous system-aware practices that support safety, integration, and embodied self-care. Her work draws from yoga therapy, somatics, mindfulness, and trauma-informed principles, with an emphasis on practical tools that can be used in everyday life. Her professional background includes work in social services and newspaper reporting—experiences that continue to inform her grounded, compassionate, and story-centered approach to teaching. Jackie’s work is also shaped by her own personal healing journey, which deepened her commitment to making wellness practices accessible, inclusive, and empowering for individuals and communities. Jackie offers classes, trainings, and wellness programs for libraries, community organizations, and support groups, helping people reconnect with their innate capacity for resilience and well-being.
