Please join us for an important talk on Media Literacy.  In a call for a nationwide commitment to news literacy in education, Sacred Heart University School of Communication Media and the Arts, Professor Joe Alicastro, will facilitate a discussion about media literacy, trusted sources of information and distinguishing fact from fiction. 

Joe Alicastro is currently the Senior News Producer-in-Residence and Press Forward Fellow/Mentor at Sacred Heart University. The former Director of the Graduate Program in Journalism and Media Production, he continues to teach Journalism and TV News Production courses at SHU. In his previous career he was a 30-year veteran Producer of NBC News. As NBC’s Rome Bureau Chief, Mr. Alicastro traveled extensively around the globe covering breaking news, including the fall of the Berlin Wall, the breakup of the Soviet Union, Afghanistan, the Gulf War, and the liberation of Kuwait. Nominated seven times, he is the winner of three News & Documentary Emmy Awards.
