Event Details

Please join us on Zoom for a talk on the flooding that has plagued the city of Venice for centuries. The causes are complex, involving environmental, climatic, and geographical factors unique to Venice. How it affects their daily lives and the clever, ingenious ways of how they cope with it will be shown with photos, some amusing.   You will hear about  long-term effects on the city and how the city is fighting back.  Toni McKeen will also share amazing before and during the flooding photos of the streets and canals, including photos of the most severe flooding, the second worst that occurred when she was there on one of her visits.  Toni will explain the effective warning system they have in place.  Bring your high boots!

Toni McKeen is a historian and professional genealogy researcher and instructor, teaching several genealogy classes each week at Founders Hall.  She has been a frequent lecturer in the tri-state area for more than 20 years.
