Wilton Library is proud to present The Three: Peter Bernstein, Harvie S, and Matt Wilson with Bernstein on guitar, Harvie on bass, and Wilson on drums. Peter, Harvie, and Matt have performed and recorded together in various settings over the years, but this trio marks an exciting new configuration. Their set will feature a blend of original compositions from each member alongside fresh interpretations of jazz standards. You can hear them together on Bright Dawn which will be released in March 2026 so we’ll be getting a sneak peek at their newest work.

Peter Bernstein has been playing and recording since 1990 when he first appeared on recordings with Lou Donaldson and the organ trio of Larry Goldings and Bill Stewart, a group still touring and recording today. That year, Peter was featured on Jim Hall's JVC Jazz Festival concert at Town Hall. Peter played in Lou Donaldson's group for 10 years as well as performing and recording with Joshua Redman's group 1995-97. Other associations and collaborations include Jimmy Cobb, Dr. Lonnie Smith, David Fathead Newman, Brad Mehldau, Etta Jones, Diana Krall, Bobby Hutcherson, Lee Konitz, Nicholas Payton, George Coleman, and Sonny Rollins. Peter has played on festival, concert, and club stages all over the world and has appeared on over 300 recordings with 14 under his own name. These recordings have featured many of his own compositions as well as a trio recording of Thelonious Monk's music and a live solo recording of standards and jazz classics. His latest recording on the Smoke Sessions label is Better Angels featuring Brad Mehldau, Vicente Archer, and Al Foster. The Jazzwise reviewer concluded: "It's a classy, slow-cookin' record that consistently hits the spot."

Harvie S is back in the Brubeck Room for his ninth performance - most recently here in 2024 with Alan Broadbent. Harvie is an award-winning bassist, educator, composer, arranger, and producer. He has played with many of the biggest names in jazz (Chick Corea, Michael Brecker, Tony Bennett, Jim Hall, Kenny Barron)  and has performed in a wide variety of jazz festivals around the globe as well as in such venues as The Blue Note, The Village Vanguard, and the Kennedy Center.

New York-based drummer Matt Wilson combines buoyant zeal, idiosyncratic style, infectious humor, joyous swing and an indomitable spirit of surprise - qualities that have made him one of the most in-demand players and educators on the modern jazz scene. Whether anchoring an all-star group at the White House, juggling tricky rhythmic swerves with his own quartets, exploring the poetry of Carl Sandburg, or donning a superhero cape to inspire young musicians to embrace their individuality, Wilson approaches music as a man on a mission.

Hot & Cool Jazz is brought to you by the generosity of the Estate of James (Tom) and Alice Brown. Special thanks to Chris & Tish Brubeck.
