Event Details

The Human Library is returning to Wilton Library! The Human Library is a community event featuring a library of people - human “Books” - and their experiences with prejudice, bias, or discrimination based on aspects of their person, heritage, or life experiences. At the Human Library, the “Books” are on loan to “Readers” for a 25-minute personal and honest one-on-one conversation in a safe space. The “Books” have an opportunity to share their personal experiences, and “Readers” are members of the community who want to foster understanding and are encouraged to ask questions. This format allows people to gain insight into the lives of others, creating compassion and connection as the barriers of misconceptions are broken down.

The Human Library is an international movement that started in Denmark in 2000 and is now held in more than 80 countries around the world. In 2018, Wilton Library became the first non-academic library in Connecticut to receive permission from the Human Library Organization to host the event.

No registration required.

The Human Library event at Wilton Library is sponsored by ASML.
