Crafting Your College Essay

Writing your college essay can be a little confusing, and even a bit frustrating, but the fact of it is: your essay is your opportunity to introduce yourself to the university's admissions officers. Without the essay, you're data: a series of GPAs, SAT/ACT scores, honors, achievements, & extracurriculars.........but what is your personality like?

Are you funny? Witty? Sarcastic? Did you have an experience that shaped you? Can you tell a story? What are your quirks? What makes you YOU?

While most students can write about history or lit, it's not often that we have to write about ourselves, and that in itself is a challenge. How do you talk about yourself without bragging?

Join us as we cover the ins & outs of crafting your college essay. It will be an interactive session so you can ask questions along the way!

Here's what we'll cover:

1. What does a good essay look like?

2. Mistakes & topics to AVOID

3. Deconstruct good essays & see what worked & why.

4. Starting your essay...what should you think about before you start writing?

The session will be run by Priyanka Shingala of Let's Talk College, LLC based in Redding, CT. Priyanka has been working in the college counseling/test prep industry for 10+ years, helping students & their families navigate the college applications process.

Registration is required to receive a Zoom link. Links will be sent by the morning of the program to all attendees.
