Please join us as Michael Bellacosa leads a discussion of Joseph Ellis’s First Family: Abigail & John Adams. Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Ellis (e.g. Founding Brothers) recounts the story of one of the most iconic husband-wife teams in all of American history. Both prolific letter writers, Abigail and John left us a remarkable archive with their 1200 letters which illuminate, among other things, the story of the Revolution and the Founding as lived by them (as well as more mundane topics as the New England weather!). In some periods, they were separated more than they were together (e.g. he in Philadelphia and she in Braintree/Quincy) but their vigorous correspondence sustained them in their individual, daily lives as well as their relationship- as a couple. Kirkus called it in its review: “An impeccable account of the politics, civics and devotion behind the Adams marriage.”

This group meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month from September through May, excluding December. Call the Senior Center for details and to register at 203-834-6240. Comstock Community Center, 180 School Road, Wilton.
