Please join us as Caryn Friedman leads a discussion of Billy Collins's Musical Tables. As a sort of preview for our in-person event with Billy Collins at Wilton Library, we will discuss one of his recent books of poetry: Musical Tables. In this collection, Collins, former Poet Laureate of the United States, concentrates his poetic power into very short poems, which push the form to jam the maximum amount of emotion and meaning into a compact space. His unique style combines amiability with wit and profundity with fun all with a sincerely aesthetic overlay. Singer and songwriter Paul Simon said: “The poetry of Billy Collins has a kindness that glitters with hard truth, and in Musical Tables he gives us a book of short, witty, often luminous snapshots of our sad and funny world.”
This group meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month from September through May, excluding December. Call the Senior Center for details and to register at 203-834-6240. Comstock Community Center, 180 School Road, Wilton.
