Please join us in the Brubeck Room to kick off the year with an important SPED*NET presentation. Navigating the evaluation process can be overwhelming. As a parent, you want to advocate for your child, but the steps to access support—whether through school or privately—can be confusing. Pediatric neuropsychologist Yael Rothman, PhD, will discuss reasons for seeking an evaluation, what is typically assessed, and how evaluations may differ depending on the setting. Understanding the results of the assessment is critical, yet parents may leave feedback sessions feeling uncertain about what the findings mean or what to do next. Dr. Rothman will also explain how to interpret the results and offer guidance on how to use that information to pursue the appropriate supports and services for your child.
Yael Rothman is a pediatric neuropsychologist specializing in comprehensive evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide range of conditions that impact learning, behavior, social skills, and/or emotional functioning. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Rothman has presented at national and international conferences, published articles in peer-reviewed journals, been a guest on numerous podcasts, and given many lectures to parents and schools. She is the co-author, with Dr. Katia Fredriksen, of the Different Thinkers series, which is designed to teach elementary-aged children about their diagnoses. Different Thinkers: ADHD was published in January 2024 and Different Thinkers: Autism was published in March 2025. She is the owner of Rothman Pediatric Neuropsychology and shares an Instagram account with her co-author (@neuropsychmoms) to provide evidence-based information to parents/caregivers.
Presented by SPED*NET in partnership with Wilton Library, Wilton Public Schools and Newtown Sped PTA. Registration suggested.
